DNA Avian Sexing

FEATHER FEXING - IN AUSTRALIA

SIMPLY FOLLOW THE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS BELOW. The Feather Sexing Procedure is the easiest method ever developed for you to sex your birds.
1. Label Samples		Label a plastic bag or envelope for each bird you plan to sex. Use some identification, or name for each bird. eg. Ring K23, Bobby, etc	2. Print Sample Form		Print out the Sample Form. and fill in information about the birds being sexed. (click here for high resolution version)
3. Take Samples	Pull 2 feathers from the bird with one swift motion and place them in the bag or envelope labeled for that bird.		You must pull feathers from the bird, do not pick feathers up off the ground.	For small birds like finches, we require two primary feathers. For medium sized birds like conures or rosellas, two secondary flight or tail feathers are sufficient. For large birds like cockatoos or macaws you may wish to take breast or back feathers.
