How does a DNA paternity test work? |
You can take your own samples at home, quickly and painlessly, and post the samples to the lab for results. Alternatively, for a court approved test, we can take your samples for you. What is in the free kit? |

What type of samples do we have to provide? |
We can work with a variety of biological samples. However, for paternity testing, we recommend a mouth swab, as it is completely reliable and painless. We understand that people often prefer to test discreetly. We can test a variety of different samples, such as a toothbrush or a used cotton-bud from the ear. Do we need the mothers consent? |
No. Paternity tests can be performed with samples from the father and child only, although a higher accuracy can be obtained by including the mother. Due to high number of loci (19 or 23 regions of DNA) tested, DNA SOLUTIONS is able to obtain very high accuracies with only the father and child. |

How much does it cost? |
Prices depend on the test you are taking. Refer to our Paternity page for paternity prices and to our Other Relationship Tests page for prices on other relationship tests (i.e. testing two sisters, etc.) |
| What is the accuracy? | Our cheapest paternity test has a minimum accuracy of 99.99%. Other relationship tests (i.e. brother to sister tests) can vary between 90% and 99.9%. Our tests are guaranteed to achieve the highest accuracy to cost ratio of any other laboratory, due to our unique testing of 19 or 23 loci (19-23 regions of DNA) |
| How long is the testing time? | Usually between 2 and 3 weeks. Times vary, depending on how busy the laboratory is. We also have express options available - click to order an express DNA test. |

Is it confidential? |
All clients’ information and DNA test results are strictly confidential. Results will only be issued to the person who has signed the sample submission form. A password, chosen by you, adds further protection against unauthorised parties accessing results. |
